Screed & Solid

This section covers all the components required for installing heating pipes within a dry-mix sand and cement screed or a liquid screed.

The in-screed method is by far the most cost-effective way to heat a space. Within this system, the choice of installation method often comes down to personal preference. Some installers prefer castellated panels for precise, uniform pipe layouts, while others opt for staples to allow more flexibility and adaptability.

The most critical factors in a successful screed system are pipe spacing and loop length—these determine whether your system is basic or expertly designed.

Why choose it:

  • Top efficiency + even heat thanks to high thermal mass.
  • Great with heat pumps (low flow temperatures).
  • Invisible and robust under any finish.

Typical specs

  • Pipe: 16–20 mm PEX/PERT
  • Centres: 100–200 mm (load/room use)
  • Screed depth: 50–75 mm (system/finish dependent)
  • Floor finishes: virtually all (tiles, LVT, engineered wood, polished concrete)

When Solid & Screed is the right call

  • You’re already planning screed or slab works.
  • You want maximum efficiency and stable comfort.
  • You prefer fewer zones with steady background warmth.

We Are Loved

" Theoheat were brilliant. I wasn’t entirely sure what the best options were and after speaking to them I knew exactly what to order. Add that to super fast delivery I would have no hesitation in recommending them. "
