Our Systems

Underfloor Heating, Simplified: Three Systems for Every Floor

At Theoheat, we’ve streamlined underfloor heating into three core options based on your floor build-up: Retrofit, Screed & Solid, and Joisted. No fluff—just the right system for your property and budget.

Comparison at a glance

  • Retrofit: lowest height, quickest upgrade, ideal for refurb.
  • Screed & Solid: highest efficiency and comfort, best with new floors/heat pumps.
  • Joisted: dry install for timber floors and upper levels, lightweight and flexible.

Rule of thumb

  • Tight floor height / minimal disruption? Retrofit.
  • New slab or screed planned? Screed & Solid.
  • Suspended timber? Joisted.

What you get with Theoheat

  • Design-led: room-by-room heat loss, pipe centers, loop lengths, flow temps.
  • Kit or turnkey: supply-only, commission-assist, or full install.
  • Controls that work: wired or wireless zoning, app-based scheduling, heat-pump friendly.
  • Guarantees: manufacturer-backed pipe warranties and documented pressure testing.

Explore Your Options

Retrofit

Retrofit – minimal height build-up for existing floors and refurbishments.

Screed & Solid

Screed & Solid – highest thermal mass for new builds and extensions.

Joisted

Joisted – dry, lightweight panels for timber floors and suspended joists.

FAQs

Will UFH work with my heat pump or boiler?

Yes. All three systems can be designed for low flow temperatures. Screed & Solid is the most efficient partner for heat pumps; Retrofit and Joisted also perform well with correct design.

How much floor height do I need?

Retrofit starts around 15–25 mm. Joisted depends on panel choice (from ~18 mm). Screed systems use the screed depth you’re already planning (typically 50–65 mm above pipe).

Can I use carpet?

Yes—keep the combined tog (carpet + underlay) typically ≤2.0 for good performance.

How long does installation take?

Small Retrofit rooms can be completed in 1–2 days. Joisted installs vary by access. Screed systems depend on pour schedules and drying/commissioning times.

Do I need radiators as backup?
Not if the system is correctly designed. We’ll model outputs to meet peak winter loads.
